The swissinfo podcast asks the question that drives us in our work: "Where are the voices of women in peace talks?" Our director Deborah Schibler and Larissa Mina Lee, Network and Advocacy, took part in the discussion.
"Ending war does not mean peace. So whenever these men use the word peace in order to say ceasefire, stop the guns, this is not peace.” So says Deborah Schibler in the podcast "Where are women's voices in peace talks?" in the swissinfo series Inside Geneva. She and Larissa Mina Lee draw on their experiences in the programme work with our partners and from our network Feminists Connecting for Peace and contribute to the realities of women's peace work in the podcast.
Joining the conversation: Leandra Bias, University of Bern, and Mahidé Aslan-Leivadaros, head of the Women in the Armed Forces and Diversity Centre (FiAD). The discussion is moderated by journalist Imogen Foulkes.
Find answers to the question: "How do women influence peace processes?"
We have to stop saying, what they’re doing is building peace. That’s not true. Refuse to hear the word peace when actually what is meant is a transactional win, or even blackmail.
