03.12.2024, Peacebuilding after armed conflicts: Three years of collective learnings

Women's participation in peacebuilding

Together with our partners in Colombia, Nepal and the Philippines, we support women in voicing their experiences and demands for peace after an armed conflict is formally ended. We developed an illustration and handout to creatively present and share the insights we have gained together over the course of three years for a more sustainable impact of our engagement.

In our programme, we initiated social and structural changes that promote peace in these three countries. At our Women's Peace Tables (WPT), women and LGBTIQ+ people affected by conflict were able to develop their options for action in safety. Together, they expanded their knowledge of the provisions of the peace agreements, formulated their demands and developed strategies. The safety of the WPT also allowed for the individual and collective healing of the traumas caused by the conflict.

Over the course of the three years, a total of 5,400 participants – from rural and urban areas, survivors of violence, ex-combatants and people from different religions and communities – have become multipliers and drivers of social change in Colombia, Nepal and the Philippines. They created a broader awareness of the experiences of women and LGBTIQ+ persons in armed conflicts and of the responsibility for past injustices.

In the illustration and handout you can learn more about the collective learnings from this transnational programme.
