Strengthening women's effective participation in peacebuilding

We cordially invite you to the international launch of the publication "From transition to transformation. Strengthening women's effective participation in peacebuilding and transitional justice processes", in which we explore with our partners in Colombia, Nepal and the Philippines questions such as: How can women's participation in peace processes be strengthened?

The publication offers practical recommendations for effective women's participation in peacebuilding and shows how fundamental networking among activists and conflict-affected women is. The publication was produced by PeaceWomen Across the Globe and our partners Comunitar, Nagarik Aawaz and GZO Peace Institute.

At the virtual event, the authors will present the most important findings from the publication. Experts from Colombia, Kenya and the Philippines will then share their experiences from peace processes in a panel discussion. Questions from the audience will be taken afterwards.

Speakers

  • Tecla Namachanja Wanjala, former Acting Chairperson of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission in Kenya

  • Yasmin Busran-Lao, former member of the Philippine government's peace negotiation panel for talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front

  • Salomé Gómez Corrales, Coordinator of the Gender Working Group of the Colombian Truth Commission

The event will take place in English and Spanish (with simultaneous translation).
