20.09.2021, Brochure on the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda: No care, no peace!
How do socio-economic barriers and care work impede women's participation in political and peace processes? We explore this question with our civil society partners in the new brochure "No care, no peace!". It is based on the "Civil Society Contribution to the Implementation of the Swiss NAP 1325", which critically assesses the implementation of the Swiss National Action Plan (NAP) of the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda.
What distinguishes the feminist view from the prevailing militarised definition of peace? We understand peace as a positive process that leads to liberation from all violence, including structural and cultural violence. The brochure places this vision of a society in which every person feels safe in the context of Switzerland's implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on "Women, Peace and Security". With its demands, the brochure in particular addresses Swiss parliamentarians.
Harnessing the full potential of "Women, Peace and Security"
The content of the brochure is based on secondary research, qualitative interviews with Swiss NGOs and their partners, and exchanges with experts from civil society and academia on women's participation, feminist peacebuilding and the care economy. We have coordinated this dialogue together with the Swiss Platform for Peacebuilding KOFF and the feminist peace organisation cfd. In this way, we would like to contribute to Switzerland making full use of the potential of the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda.
