Qatar: Moza Al-Malki

Moza Abdullah Mohammad Al-Malki was born in 1957 in Doha, Qatar. She obtained a BA in Psychology from Beirut University in 1978, an MA from LaVern University, USA, in 1986, a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Abertay, Scotland, in 2000, and she has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Qatar University since 1987. She is the director of the Moza Al-Malki Center for Training and Rehabilitation (MMCTR), and she is also affiliated with the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH). Moza Al-Malki has several published research papers and books.

In addition to her mother tongue, Arabic, Moza Al-Malki speaks French and English fluently. Moza Al-Malki pursued a teaching career in the Ministry of Education in Qatar from 1974 to 1982. In 1986 she became the Headmistress of the Model Primary School, and in 1992 she was appointed as Head of Programs and Activities in the Qatari Red Crescent Society. Since 1990, she has lectured and run seminars at state-run schools and has written extensively in the Qatari and Gulf press. In 1995, Moza Al-Malki was appointed as the Gulf region’s Vice-President of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH). In this position she has worked in a variety of voluntary capacities including the Psychiatric Department at the Al Rumailah Hospital. She is an active member of many regional and international committees and she has received many awards for her significant work.
