Twenty-five years ago, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). It calls for the equal participation of women in peace processes and the protection of their rights in armed conflicts. But today, its implementation hangs by a thread. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Alliance for Women, Peace and Security (consisting of Frieda – The Feminist Peace Organisation, PeaceWomen Across the Globe and KOFF/swisspeace) emphasises that these goals are more relevant and necessary than ever – and stresses the need to strengthen commitment to the Women, Peace and Security agenda in a targeted manner.

Unsere Gründerin und Präsidentin Ruth-Gaby Vermot ist im Mai 2026 zurückgetreten. Über Jahrzehnte setzte sich für die Sichtbarkeit der meist unterbewerteten Arbeit von Frauen in von Krieg und bewaffneten Konflikten betroffenen Ländern ein. Ihre mutige Vision, 1000 Frauen aus der ganzen Welt als Kollektiv für den Friedensnobelpreis 2005 zu nominieren, lebt in unserer Zusammenarbeit mit Frauen und feministischen Aktivist:innen in unseren Programmen und im Netzwerk Feminists Connecting for Peace weiter.
