Israel and Palestine: Petition for UN aid and ceasefire

With two petitions like-minded organisations are urging Switzerland's Federal Council and Parliament to continue funding for the UN relief organisation for the Palestinians UNRWA and to work towards an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Switzerland continues to withhold its financial contribution to UNRWA, even though the civilian population in the occupied Gaza Strip is threatened by war and famine. Together with 13 other organisations, we are calling on the Federal Council and Parliament to remember Switzerland's humanitarian tradition and take a clear stand on the side of international humanitarian law.

The petitions "Switzerland must ensure UN aid for Gaza" and "Ceasefire now to end the suffering!" were submitted with more than 45,000 signatures on 29 April 2024.

Continuing to invest in the future of women: Afghanistan

In the 20 years before the Taliban came to power in August 2021, women in Afghanistan had been able, with difficulty, to reclaim some of their rights and their place in society. Until the takeover, we supported women to increase their knowledge about their rights in relation to the peace process at the time, so that they could help shape peace and have a voice in decision-making processes. We are currently analysing how to continue our support for Afghanistan's women.

Women demand security – and peace: Ukraine

In 2021, we launched a pilot programme with women in conflict-affected communities in eastern Ukraine, who have been affected by rampant poverty, social insecurity and gender-based violence for years. In our Ukraine programme they worked together on strategies for safety in their daily lives and equal participation in peacebuilding. We continue building peace with them even during the war.
