Panel discussion with Susan Risal, director of Nagarik Aawaz, Nepal and Mithra Akhbari, programme manager, PeaceWomen Across the Globe, about the role of women in the Nepal peace process and working with women affected by sexualised and gender-specific violence.
The civil war in Nepal has deeply divided society. The building of a sustainable peace, the protection of women's and human rights and comprehensively dealing with the past are among the challenges Nepal’s society faces. Women must be included in these processes. The Women's Peace Tables, which PeaceWomen Across the Globe is hosting in Nepal together with our partner organisation Nagarik Aawaz, offer women a safe space where they can talk about their experiences of violence and formulate their demands to the government. As part of the global 16 Days Against Violence against Women campaign, Susan Risal talks about the role of women in the Nepal peace process and working with women affected by sexualised and gender-specific violence.
